Software Engineer · Atlassian
Emile Givental.
Software engineer at Atlassian — I build AI systems and the distributed machinery underneath them. Nights and weekends, I ship side projects.
I like the hard, invisible parts — consensus, latency, and the seams where AI meets real systems — and I care about the visible parts too.
By day I'm a software engineer at Atlassian working on AI and distributed systems: agent workflows, evaluation, and the infrastructure that keeps them fast and correct at scale.
By night I ship side projects across wildly different domains — a trading workbench, a multiplayer card game, an artist's gallery, a personal control plane. What follows is a tour of six of them. Each section is dressed in that project's own design system, so scrolling is a walk through six visual languages.

Kanban · AI coding sessions01
Kanban · AI coding sessions
Grovo
A desktop Kanban for Jira tickets with one-click AI coding sessions. I owned the realtime board sync and the agent-session orchestration.
Drag a ticket, spin up an isolated git worktree, and hand it to an AI session — then watch the board update live across machines. Personal tasks are first-class.

Math Circle
Curriculum tooling02
Curriculum tooling
Math Circle
An authoring + lesson-planning tool for math enrichment programs. I built the problem graph and the worksheet / slide generators.
Compose tagged problems into ordered lesson plans, then generate printable worksheets or present them live — one data model, many outputs.

Personal control plane03
Personal control plane
Cortex
A control plane for feature flags, experiments and cost across my own projects. I built the edge API and the flag-evaluation SDK.
Flip a flag in the dashboard; consumers pick it up within a request. Runs on the edge at roughly $0/mo — a tool I run for myself.

Banda Gallery
Artist portfolio + CMS04
Artist portfolio + CMS
Banda Gallery
A museum-quiet gallery and CMS for a working painter. I designed the picture-frame system and the collector / purchase flow.
White walls, hairline borders, and a switchable frame motif — museum gold, gunmetal, hanging-wire. The paintings are the only color on the page.

Trading workbench05
Trading workbench
Stocks
A desktop charting, alerts and backtesting workbench with an MCP server. I wrote the DSL evaluator and the WebGL chart renderer.
Express metrics and alerts in a tiny DSL, backtest against cached bars, and let an agent create them from the outside — mutations live-render in the open window.

Multiplayer card game06
Multiplayer card game
Dutch
A realtime, multiplayer take on the card game Dutch. I built the authoritative game server and the pure rules engine.
Players sit around a circular table and draw, swap, snap, and finally call DUTCH — all synced over sockets and refereed server-side.

Let's build something —
for hire or for fun.
Full-time & contract
I'm open to senior / staff conversations in AI and distributed systems. If you're hiring for hard problems at scale, I'd love to hear what you're building.
Collaborations & ideas
Got a weird prototype, a side project, or an idea that needs a systems brain? I'm always up for nights-and-weekends collaborations — pitch me.
